My name is Jeremy Shelton and I provide radon testing along with mold inspection services. I founded SafeAir Certified Mold Inspection Inc. in 2009 after we discovered an extreme case of mold in the crawlspace of a home I had just purchased. The mold growth in the crawlspace was polluting the air within the home and I developed serious health problems as a result of the mold spores I was breathing on a daily basis. After battling with unexplained illness that I attributed to airborne allergens over the course of a year, my quality of life began to suffer. I consulted my physician and went through countless tests and consults and still couldn’t find an answer. Eventually I discovered that my crawlspace was infested with mold. After having spore trap air samples collected, it was discovered that there were elevated levels of aspergillus / penicillium and stachybotrys spores in the living area of the home. I ultimately decided to move from the home and my ailments quickly cleared up. This experience led me to research air quality and mold growth in homes, eventually leading to the completion of my first certification course as a Certified Mold Inspector and Assessor and Safe Air Certified Mold Inspection was born shortly after. After completing my first certification and founding the company I began providing mold testing services in the Atlanta, GA area. Studying indoor air quality and mold growth became a passion for me. In the coming years I earned certifications in Water Damage Restoration and Applied Microbial Remediation through the IICRC. I’ve continued to study mold growth in homes with the goal of being the best mold inspector that I can be. Recently I’ve expanded my skill-set and business to accommodate Radon testing. The EPA states that radon gas causes more deaths per year than drunk driving. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer amongst non-smokers. What is radon? Radon is an odorless, tasteless, radioactive gas. The threats from radon can be mitigated as radon can be detected with a simple series of tests.
